Biography

Dr. Ivanhoe is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation & Brain Injury Medicine, a senior fellow in the American Leadership Forum & currently, director of the SPASM program at TIRR Memorial Hermann. She is a professor at the McGovern Medical School-University of Texas and has served as spasticity faculty across the US & abroad. She has expertise in the treatment of spasticity, it’s impact on medical complications and as an advocate for healthcare access. Her clinical experience spans the spectrum of brain injury from neurosurgical ICUs to long term community follow up, including developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, stroke, etc. Dr. Ivanhoe has extensive experience in interventions for spasticity. She is published in articles and textbooks and is on the board of directors of the International Neurotoxin Association and is/has been speakers’ bureaus and/or advisory boards of companies involved in the treatment of spasticity and dystonia, & other aspects of the UMN syndrome. She has received awards from the Brain Injury Association of Texas, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, the Distinguished Clinician award by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Humanitarian Award and Professional Contribution and Lifetime Achievement Awards by the Brain Injury Alliance of Texas, Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award at UT Houston, the Sheldon Berrol Clinical Service Award of the Brain Injury Association of America & the UTHealth McGovern Distinguished Faculty Clinical Science Award. She is recognized by US News and World Report and Best Doctors.
