Code of Conduct
Your registration for the International Paediatric Brain Injury Society's (IPBIS) Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together acknowledges your acceptance of the following code of conduct for all events and activities. You are to act in a professional and courteous manner to all attendees and IPBIS and hotel/conference center staff throughout the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting. IPBIS will not tolerate harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form. Harassment includes speech or behavior that is not welcome, personally offensive, inappropriate, or disruptive. Behavior that is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another, so use discretion to be certain that respect is communicated to others. Harassment intended in a joking manner still constitutes unacceptable behavior.
Anyone experiencing or witnessing behavior that constitutes an immediate or serious threat to public safety at any time should immediately contact hotel/convention center security or local law enforcement (by calling 911 or similar emergency number).
If you are not in immediate danger but feel that you are the subject of unacceptable behavior, have witnessed any such behavior, or have other concerns, please notify an IPBIS staff member (as soon as possible) who can work to resolve the situation. All reports will be treated seriously and responded to promptly.
Once IPBIS is notified, staff will discuss the details first with the individual filing the complaint, then any witnesses who have been identified, and then the alleged offender before determining an appropriate course of action. Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent that it does not compromise the rights of others.
Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. IPBIS staff (or their designee) or security may take any immediate action deemed necessary and appropriate, including removal from the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting without warning or refund.
IPBIS expressly disclaims any liability arising out of your consumption of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting. You are responsible for your own well-being. IPBIS expressly disclaims liability for any acts or omissions of attendees resulting from excessive drinking, recklessness or negligence on the part of any participant(s). IPBIS reserves the right to revoke your registration at any time for breach of the foregoing.
Consent
As a registered attendee or guest of the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting, you authorize IPBIS to photograph your image as a participant in sessions and events. Use of the photographs will be limited to IPBIS and for future meeting promotional purposes only.
Waivers
Attendee hereby assumes all risks, and accepts sole responsibility, for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that attendee may experience or incur in connection with attending the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting. Attendee hereby releases, covenants not to sue, discharges, and holds harmless IPBIS, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from any such claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto.
Specifically relating to the global COVID-19 pandemic, attendee acknowledges the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk of exposure or infection by attending the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, disability, and/or death to attendee. Attendee understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of others who may attend the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting or their families, colleagues, or others with whom they may have contact. Accordingly, attendee understands and agrees that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of IPBIS, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting.
In addition to all other rules and regulations relating to the attendee's attendance at the Fifth Conference on Paediatric Acquired Brain Injury: Building a Better Future Together meeting, attendee agrees to comply with all COVID-related procedures that may be implemented by IPBIS and/or the hotel/conference center, including, but not limited to mask-wearing and social distancing requirements and restrictions on certain activities that carry higher COVID-related risk, in order to protect as much as possible, the health and safety of all attendees.
